In addition, the Feast Day of St. Vincent de Paul is on September 27. As a Vincentian service activity, your group may want to raise money and participate in the Friends of the Poor Walk: https://www.svdpusa.net/fop/ If the location and time is not a possibility, you may want to organize a walk-a-thon of your own and help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul when it is most convenient for your school or parish.
Another way to kick-off the school year with your VMY members would be to have a Promise ceremony. VMY members can be invited to do their Promise, a commitment to continue VMY and follow the example of Mary. During this time, an introduction by the Leader and a Promise prayer can be said during a VMY meeting. In addition, VMY medals, pins or Miraculous Medals and a certificate will be given to the members.
